David Sacks (trombone and vocals) graduated college and joined a traveling circus, played in a rock band, then moved to New York City. He has performed and recorded with Brazilian greats such as Antonio Carlos Tom” Jobim, the “Girl from Ipanema” Astrud Gilberto, Paulo Jobim, Nana Caymmi, Toninho Horta, Nana Vasconcelos, and Edison Machado. 

He lived in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil, and New York City and has performed with Brazilian musicians Jorge Ben, Jair Rodrigues, Cyro Baptista, Helio Delmiro, Flora Purim and Airto Moreira, Dom Um Romao, Rogerio Souza, Kay Lyra, Jaques and Paula Morelenbaum, Claudio Roditi, Alfredo Cardim, Duduka da Fonseca, and Romero Lubambo among others.  

On the New York scene and internationally, he also played jazz and salsa music with Tito Puente, Hector Lavoe, and Celia Cruz, and performed in the Broadway show Gospel at Colonus starring Morgan Freeman.

Last year he was interviewed on Um Café Lá em Casa, a video channel for top Brazilian musicians hosted by guitarist Nelson Faria.

He currently plays and sings Brazilian, Latin, and jazz music widely in the DC metro area. He regularly performs at area  venues such as Strathmore, Blues Alley, Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, and the Embassy of Brazil.
